ZACH’s Arts Across the Curriculum (AAC) program addresses the educational and professional development needs in 3 ways:

1. Integrating drama and theatre elements into the instruction of other subjects to improve student engagement and outcomes
2. Teaching specific TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, our state curriculum standards)
3. Developing tools and resources, including lesson plans, to help teachers continue to use the arts in their classroom. ZACH’s professional teaching artists visit each classroom and facilitate arts-based teaching techniques with a specific focus on learning and comprehending vocabulary across all subject areas. AAC’s professional development trains teachers to deliver instruction using techniques such as movement, role-playing, and theatre games that engage students kinesthetically and use theatre as a tool to teach the curriculum in subjects such as math, science, social studies, and language arts.
