CAST ANNOUNCED FOR LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA’S IN THE HEIGHTS, A COLLABORATION WITH LYRIC THEATRE OF OKLAHOMA

AUSTIN, TX – ZACH Theatre is proud to announce the cast for Hamilton composer/playwright LinManuel Miranda’s extraordinary, Tony Award winning, Broadway musical In the Heights. With music and lyrics by Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, In the Heights plays on stage in the Topfer Theatre May 31July 2, 2017 and is directed by Michael Balderrama, San Antonionative and original Broadway cast member and dance captain of In the Heights. MEET CHANEL, THE AUSTIN SINGER-TURNED-ACTRESS LIGHTING UP ZACH THEATRE (Austin American-Statesman)

Chanel hadn’t acted a day in her life. So when her fellow Austin chanteuse, Courtney Santana, encouraged her in 2015 to audition for Zach Theatre’s “Sophisticated Ladies,” a revue of Duke Ellington tunes, she protested. “Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Chanel told Santana. “I’m not an actress. ACTRESS COMMANDS STAGE AS BILLIE HOLIDAY AT ZACH THEATRE (Austin 360)

NEW “JJ’S ARCADE” FROM ZACH THEATRE, TEATRO VIVO AMONG BEST FAMILY THEATER IN AUSTIN (Austin 360)

“JJ’s Arcade” again confirms why Zach Theatre’s education department is doing the most innovative theater for families in town. Teamed up with Teatro Vivo and playwright and University of Texas alum José Casas, Zach reaffirms it’s commitment to doing bilingual theater that all children in Central Texas can see themselves within and can be understood by Spanish and nonSpanish speakers.  It’s also the first time that Zach is working at the Emma S. BILLIE HOLIDAY IS BACK IN TOWN, THIS TIME AT ZACH THEATRE (Austin American-Statesman)

The photograph shows a woman in a winter coat wrapped by a fur collar. A diminutive fur hat accented with a dark bow sits tilted on her head. Clearly the star of the social gathering, she is surrounded by other smiling African-American women. APRIL AT ZACH THEATRE BRINGS THE BEST OF BILLIE HOLIDAY AND A CHILD’S IMAGINATION

AUSTIN, TX – ZACH Theatre will bring shows for everyone in the family this April. Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, a biographical play-set-to-music, will transform the Topfer Theatre into a nightclub with an on-stage bar including VIP cabaret table seating April 5 – April 30, 2017. In partnership with Teatro Vivo, ZACH Theatre brings you the world premiere of the bilingual production for youth audiences, jj’s arcade starring rising young actors Diego Rodriguez and Alessandro Sanchez, at the Mexican American Cultural Center, April14 – May 7, 2017. ZACH Theatre to Break Ground for New Topfer Theatre

AUSTIN, TX (January 25, 2011) – ZACH Theatre is set to break ground on its new 420-seat theatre Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 11:30 a.m. The new, state-of-the-art Topfer Theatre, designed to match the award-winning artistry that Austin audiences have come to enjoy at the city’s leading professional theatre company, will become part of ZACH’s performance and theatre education campus that anchors and enlivens the South Lamar corridor.
