ZACH Theatre Rentals

ZACH is proud to host a substantial and ever-growing supply of props. Our collection houses both show-specific pieces and more general items that can be used for a number of different productions. Some of these props are available for rental, and we would love to support your theatre’s programs by providing superb pieces from our stock.

As we have recently done renovations and moved our stock into a different facility, we are still in the midst of sorting, documenting and organizing, but as soon as more information is available, we will have it posted right here on this page.

Donations

As a nonprofit arts organization, ZACH Theatre relies on community support for many of our productions and is accepting donations of any type of item that could be used as a prop.

AP Teleype Printer from Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins

Description:

• Our well-designed prop provides the look and feel of a fully-functioning, classic Teletype printer without the upkeep and problems of an antique machine.  Authentic Teletype paper is printed with the messages from the show in the authentic Teletype font.  The pre-printed messages are loaded into our printer, and connected to a button, which can be triggered off-stage.  Upon activation, the printer spools the messages out of the printer.  Paired with sounds cues of the signal bells and the noises of an actual printing Teletype printer, the illusion is quite effective.
• We also rent a stand modeled after an actual Teletype stand.  It offers the option to conceal a speaker in the unit, so that the bells and printing sounds can originate from the within.
• Because of the unique needs of different productions, we rent the printer and stand separately, while the printed messages and sound cues sell separately.

Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors

Guidelines and Pricing:

• $275.00 per performance
• $500.00 refundable deposit
• $50.00 admin fee
• One free week of rehearsal (week prior to opening night)
• Customer pays for shipping (determine shipping rates here)

This rental includes four Audrey II puppets that showcase the plant’s growth throughout the show. All four may be seen on the video link below. ZACH will also provide additional instructions on how to properly use all of the Audrey II pieces.  We recommend that you cast a tall puppeteer to manipulate the 2 larger pods and that you provide him/her with a back brace. The second puppet unit works with jacket that is worn by the Seymour character.  It can comfortably fit an actor that wears up to an adult large shirt, but any larger would not likely be appropriate.  As individual directors choose to portray the return of the "eaten" characters differently, this rental does not include any mechanisms by which that effect may be accomplished.  All fees and the completed rental contract must be in hand prior to the shipping of Audrey II.

Hairspray cans from Hairspray

Guidelines and Pricing:

This rental includes some or all of the following: Graphic design artwork with which to wrap the hand-held hairspray cans used by the actors, haze-in-a-can product which serves a stand-in for actual hairspray products on stage, the service for us to print and wrap the hand-held cans, Wilbur's functioning prototype can that he shows to Edna, and/or the large can from which Edna emerges during the finale.

Audrey II Shipping Rates

If you are interested in renting ZACH's Audrey II prop set and would like to have it shipped to your theatre, we are happy to help determine a FedEx shipping estimate for you.

Interested parties may either:

• Email Prop Master Blake Reeves to request a quote.  Be sure to include the city and zip code to which you would like the props shipped, and also let us know whether or not there is a loading dock at the drop-off location. Email Blake at proprentals@zachtheatre.org.
• Utilize FedEx's online tools to determine your rate immediately.  Complete the following steps to do so. Please note the process below will only determine the shipping from ZACH Theatre in Austin to your location. While the return shipping will be similar in price, the form will need to be filled out a second time with the correct return shipping information to get the most accurate quote available.

     • Note: Liftgates are required for all locations that do not have a loading dock in order to raise/lower the shipping unit into the truck. ZACH does not have a loading dock.

4. A new screen will appear with several different shipping options. Under the "Service" column, look for "FedEx Freight Economy."  That respective row will list both the shipping cost and transit times for shipment from us to your location.
5. Complete the form a second time with the “Shipping from” and “Shipping to” information reversed, as to get an accurate rate for the return shipping.
