An Internship at ZACH provides an invaluable experience in non-profit professional regional theatre and well as an opportunity to expand your administrative and production skills. The valuable networking opportunities here in Austin’s thriving artistic community are a significant benefit. Internship lengths vary from 10-12 weeks to semester or even year long experiences. Each internship is unique to the specific department’s and student’s needs. ZACH is always looking for great candidates to fill our internship positions. Current college students, recent graduates and individuals with theatre experience looking for new opportunities to build their skills are encouraged to apply.

Costume Design
Internship Overview –The ZACH Theatre Costume Design Internship provides professional training and education in practical costume experience for college students and recent graduates. Through mentor guidance, one-on-one instruction, practicum, and networking with other professionals, interns will gain knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as experience in taking part in a professional production in the wardrobe. department. Stage Management
Internship Overview – The ZACH Theatre Stage Management Intern will assist and work closely with the lead Stage Manager of the production to acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with Stage Management in a professional regional theatre. Currently closed.
Wardrobe Crew
Internship Overview –The ZACH Theatre Wardrobe Crew Internship provides professional training and education in practical wardrobe experience for college students and recent graduates. Through mentor guidance, one-on-one instruction, practicum, and networking with other professionals, interns will gain knowledge, skills and abilities as well as experience in taking part in a professional production in the wardrobe department. Interns will be paired up with current wardrobe employees to shadow and run a wardrobe track during performances. Currently closed.
Development/Arts Administration
Internship Overview – The ZACH Theatre Development/Arts Administration Internship provides professional training to college students and recent graduates who are interested in a career in non-profit fundraising and/or arts administration. Interns will gain a working knowledge of the Development function within a performing arts organization and will learn basic nonprofit fundraising skills associated with donor relations and event planning. The Intern works closely with the Development Events Manager and Individual Giving Manager to learn and support the management of special events, growth, and maintenance of donor relationships, benefit fulfillment, and gift processing. The Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about other areas of arts administration based on interest. Currently closed.
Education Internships
Teaching Internship:
Applications for 2025 Summer Internships are now open.
For the 2025 Summer Camps, May 21st, 2025 through August 15, 2025, ZACH Theatre seeks interns to provide teaching assistance and administrative support to our faculty of teaching artists. ZACH offers programs for students aged 3-18 including full-day themed camps focused on skill-building and devised work, half-day creative drama camps, and a Pre-Professional Track featuring acting intensives and performance training. This internship is ideal for those with an interest in arts education. Strong candidates will have had some experience as a theatre artist and educator should work well and confidently with the public, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Administrative Internship:
Applications for 2025 Summer Internships are opening soon.
ZACH will also hire two Administrative Interns to work full-time in our office. This position will include learning what it takes to run a professional education program in an artistic environment. The Administrative Intern will manage our extended-care program, help facilitate the beginning and end of the day, and assist in the daily tasks of our office. Some in-classroom teaching time will be assigned.
- Location: Interns are needed for both our main campus (1510 Toomey Road) and our North Location (12129 Ranch Road 620 N). When applying, please reference which location you prefer.
